Taste Restaurant...Love at First Visit

When you walk through the doors of Trotwood, Ohio’s new Taste Restaurant you immediately feel chic. The ambiance is sophisticated and reeks of contemporary elegance. From the dimly lit dining area to the mellow sounds of jazz being played from the live band on the small stage in the corner, Taste is a beautiful gem waiting to be discovered.

Taste is a privately owned restaurant that has only been open since October yet on any given night the parking lot is full, the bar is crowded and there is often a wait to find an open table. There is an air of comfort and the aroma of delicious food fills the space. Celebrity Chef, Mark Brown, from Atlanta, has created a menu that is both delectable and affordable. The crowd is a mix of young urban business men and women to married couples out for a romantic evening.

Owner Jason Thomas, a Dayton native and humble businessman, has traveled extensively as part of his job. He said he found the lack of non-chain restaurant options in the Trotwood and Englewood areas frustrating. “There is a need for fine dining in this part of town,” Thomas a young African American entrepreneur decided to open Taste as he felt the need for a multiplex entertainment dining experience was way over do for the side of town it is located. As a life-long resident in the community he felt it was the perfect location with strong communities surrounding it.

As if the atmosphere of Taste wasn’t enough, they have brought in Celebrity Chef, Mark Brown along for the ride. Shortly after coming onboard Chef Brown has introduced a new, vibrant, hip menu that is like no other. Chef Brown has worked with the well known and elite, such as Muhammad Ali and Tyler Perry and definitely has honed his skills. From the pasta jambalaya to the collard green infused egg rolls the menu could not be any more appetizing.

For anyone in or around the Dayton, Ohio area looking for a relaxing evening and a good meal I would strongly recommend the short drive to Trotwood and stopping by Taste. They have late hours and something on the menu for everyone. The cuisine offers gourmet soul food, Cajun and Creole entrees. A highlight of the menu is the tapas served after 10 p.m. daily. Another caveat, all of the recipes and desserts are made in a health-conscious way. Add the smooth sounds of a live jazz band while sipping on a glass of Redtree Moscato after devouring a sweet, creamy Gabby Cake and you are in restaurant heaven.
